Imagine being homeless during this national crisis. Shelters that are normally quiet during the day are now filled with families unable to go to work or school. Many are housing families outside of their shelter in short-term hotels to address the demand in their own facility. Some organizations are even making hand sanitizer from scratch to distribute to homeless camps.
Our grant recipients are incredibly well trained to deal with crisis and trauma, but they need us more than ever to support their mission. We’ve come up with a few things you can do to help:
1. As you are emergency shopping, consider picking up extra nonperishables, cleaning products, and paper goods to help an organization in need. All the shelters are running low on supplies!
2. Buy off their Amazon Wish Lists! Here are a few examples:
Family Promise of Hendricks County
3. Home with kids? Have them write a note of thanks to the people on the frontlines serving our neighbors experiencing homelessness or a note of hope for a family struggling during this difficult time.
4. Make a donation to these organizations directly. They need funding right now!
Philanthropy can change lives. We are here as a resource for you and our neighbors in need! Be the key!
