Helping Hoosiers Recover
Through the REALTORS® Relief Foundation, assistance is being made available to help eligible individuals and families whose primary residences have been physically damaged by the recent flooding.
This statewide effort brings together the REALTORS® Relief Fund, MIBOR, local Realtor® associations, and Realtors across Indiana to connect available resources to those who need them most.
If your primary residence has been physically damaged by this recent disaster, you may be eligible to receive up to $1,000 in assistance per household.
Assistance may be available for:
Mortgage Assistance
Homeowners with a mortgage may be eligible for up to $1,000 toward their mortgage obligation to offset property damage expenses.
Homeowners without a mortgage
If you own your home outright and do not have a mortgage, you may still be eligible for up to $1,000 in assistance. Property-tax documentation will be required to verify the property.
Temporary Housing
If you were displaced from your primary residence because of physical damage and had to stay elsewhere, you may qualify for reimbursement of qualifying hotel or Airbnb expenses, up to $1,000.
Please note: Assistance is subject to eligibility requirements, available funding and approval through the REALTORS® Relief Fund.
Who may qualify?
To be considered for assistance, you must be able to provide documentation showing physical damage to your primary residence caused by the recent storm.
Damage may include:
- A tree falling onto the home damaging the roof or structure.
- Flooding that has physically damaged the residence.
- Damage to an attached structure such as a garage or deck.
Other physical damage that affects the home's ability to be safely occupied or impacts your quality of living.
The damaged property MUST be your primary residence.
What does NOT qualify?
REALTORS® Relief Fund assistance is intended to address physical property damage.
A power outage by itself does not qualify for assistance. However, if a power outage contributed to another event that caused physical damage to the home, for example, a sump pump failure that resulted in flooding, causing physical damage may qualify.
Damage to an unattached structure does not qualify under this assistance program.
Eligibility will be determined based on specific circumstances and supporting documentation provided with the application.
What if I Rent?
If you rent a home or apartment that sustained physical damage, the property owner or landlord is generally responsible for addressing the property damage.
However, if you have been displaced from your rental because of this disaster and had to stay in a hotel, Airbnb or other temporary accommodation, you may be eligible to request reimbursement of those qualifying expenses.
Documentation, including receipts will be required.
